Tutorial Program

Tutorial Program logo, which reads Tutorial Program, Peer Tutoring for All. There is an image of a lightbulb with leaves inside.

The Tutorial Program strives to meet the academic needs of all SSU enrolled students by providing free peer tutoring in over 50 courses each semester, as well as weekly drop -in math tutoring and embedded computer science lab tutoring. Our goal is to empower students with the necessary skills, tools, and mindsets to become critical thinkers and independent learners. Please note that for Fall 2021, we will be offering sessions both in person and synchronously through Zoom.

Our peer tutors are faculty recommended, model students who are trained to adjust their tutoring to students' learning preferences. Tutors can help students review the course content, develop study skills, and increase their overall confidence as a student.

The Tutorial Program primarily assists students in Biology, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Physics, Modern Languages, and Math, though some other subjects are offered each semester. We also have embedded computer science lab tutoring for select computer science courses. As a student-centered program, we will hire, to the best of our ability, subject-specific tutors based on student demand. Check out our Fall 2021 Course Support List. SI/LC courses and sessions are listed on the second tab, and Computer Science Embedded Lab Tutoring is on the third tab.
