Michelle J.

My name is Michelle J. (She/They), and I am a second-year M.A. in English student. I am currently a Writing Tutor at SSU and a Teaching Associate in the English Department, where I am teaching ENGL 100 A & B. My tutoring and teaching philosophies are in significant alignment. I am dedicated to facilitating the success of my tutees and students through attentive, student-centered practices. I acknowledge the inherent inequity of the American educational system and strive to assist all interested individuals as they pursue higher education. I minimize, often outright rejecting, engaging in any practices which reinforce arbitrary hierarchy within academia. I have had the benefit of learning from some truly excellent educators, and it is my utmost priority to share the knowledge and skills I have gained with others. Let’s write a truly killer essay, scholarship application, statement of purpose, etc. together! On a personal note, I’m an enthusiastic and near-excessive reader (unsurprising, I know). I love D&D podcasts, historical podcasts, horror movies and video games, cats, and working out at the YMCA pool.
