LARC Programs Overview
Below is a brief description of the three programs offered within the LARC, and our other services. Please note that you can find more detailed information throughout our website, so we strongly encourage you to spend some time exploring it.
Tutorial Program (includes MESA) | The Tutorial Program offers free peer tutoring in over 50 courses each semester and provides embedded computer science lab tutoring for select courses. Students can schedule up to two 1-hour appointments per week. There is no hourly limit for CS lab tutoring. Students can also request generalized or specific academic support through our website. Students can easily schedule an online tutoring appointment by logging into their Student Portals, and clicking on the LARC-WC Online tile. |
Supplemental Instruction (SI) Program | Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic assistance program that provides weekly, peer-led group study sessions for students taking historically difficult courses. The sessions are facilitated by SI Leaders—students who have previously done well in the course and who attend all class lectures, take notes, and act as model students. Days/times and classroom assignments for each session will be posted in the course Canvas page, as well as being available through a spreadsheet shared on this website. The front desk will also have a copy of session days, times, and locations for student informational purposes. |
Writing Center | The Writing Center helps students, faculty, and staff with developing their writing skills and producing documents. Writing Center peer tutors can help students with both academic and non-academic writing across the disciplines. WC peer tutors can also help students work on writing from their WIC course. The Writing Center also supports writers enrolled in English 99T. Engl 99T is a 1-unit, Credit/No Credit course that gives students a reserved weekly tutoring session with a peer tutor in the Writing Center. Students can easily schedule an online tutoring appointment by logging into their Student Portals, and clicking on the LARC-WC Online tile. |
