Engl 99T FAQs
English 99T is designed to support your growth in college writing and reading. It supports students at all levels, disciplines, past literacy experiences, language backgrounds, learning strengths and challenges, for academic, professional, and personal writing goals, with support in a relaxed, student-centric, judgement-free environment.
If you do not sign up for Engl 99T during your enrollment appointment, you must add the course in the first 2-3 weeks of classes, during open enrollment. You may repeat Engl 99T any semester you like during your academic career at Sonoma State whenever you desire extra support for writing, reading, multimedia presentations, academic habits related to these, time management, accountability, motivation, or for any other reason.
For English 99T, you’ll attend ten (10) tutoring sessions with Writing Center peer tutors, one session each week, in the LARC. You’ll meet with the same tutor every week, at a time that fits your schedule, either in person or on Zoom. You can track your progress using your STAR Card, or you can check your appointments with the front desk or your tutor.
Ideally, you begin Engl 99T a week or two after you sign up for appointments, when the LARC opens the full schedule for tutoring. Note that you must attend your first 99T session no later than one month after the semester begins, or your recurring appointment will be canceled. If you have extenuating circumstances that push back your first appointment, please reach out to our Writing Center Faculty Director, at sakina.bryant@sonoma.edu
You cannot make your own recurring appointments for your weekly tutoring session for Engl99T on your own (the system will not allow you to create a repeating appointment time, even if it looks like you have one). You must – MUST – come into the LARC, or in special scenarios, you may make your appointment on the phone with a LARC Administrator.
