Tutorial Program
Our peer tutors are faculty recommended, model students who are trained to adjust their tutoring to students' learning preferences. Tutors can help students review the course content, develop study skills, and increase their overall confidence as a student. You can learn more about our tutors through their Tutor Profiles.
The Tutorial Program primarily assists students in Biology, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Physics, and Math, though some other subjects are offered each semester. We also have embedded computer science lab tutoring for select computer science courses. As a student-centered program, we will hire, to the best of our ability, subject-specific tutors based on student demand. Don't see the course you need on our course support list? For more information on requesting tutoring support for your course, please see the Academic Support Request form.

Our Mission
The SSU Tutorial Program is committed to the University's strategic goals of promoting graduation, retention, and student success through inclusive support services.
The Tutorial Program strives to meet the academic needs of all SSU enrolled students by providing free peer tutoring in over 50 courses each semester, as well as embedded computer science lab tutoring. Our goal is to empower students with the necessary skills, tools, and mindsets to become critical thinkers and independent learners. Peer tutors are faculty-recommended students who are trained in supporting differing learning preferences. They work collaboratively with students in reviewing course content, building study skills, and studying for tests. We value the Tutorial Program as a safe, inclusive space for students to find the academic support they need.
