Writing Center Assistant Director

Michaela Morrill is the Assistant Director of the Writing Center and a graduate student in Cultural Resources Management at Sonoma State University. Her master’s thesis focuses on the ethical challenges and responsibilities involved in teaching with human remains within the CSU system. Beyond her thesis, Michaela has contributed to forensic investigations, repatriation efforts, and public research projects such as The Fall Line true crime podcast.
She holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of New Hampshire, where she was named a University Scholar. Michaela has held research and teaching positions across multiple institutions and has published in American Antiquity and Spectrum. Her work emphasizes ethical inquiry, inclusive pedagogy, and applied scholarship in anthropology and higher education.
Recognized as one of the 2025–2026 Faces of SSU for her campus impact, Michaela is dedicated to fostering a welcoming and inclusive Writing Center environment. Her contributions reflect a dedication not only to the success of individual students, but also to the growth of sustainable, equity-minded academic programs.
